Founded in 1966, Opportunities for Otsego helps alleviate poverty and fosters self-sufficiency through comprehensive and holistic client-centered services. The Agency focuses its attention on specific problems affecting the community, mobilizes resources, and creates solutions to unlock opportunities for low-income individuals and disenfranchised families. Our services encourage economic stability, social justice, and the promotion of healthy lives and families for residents of Otsego County.

Upcoming Events

02.18.19 - 02.22.2019 - Head Start Center-Based Program Closed:  All Head Start and UPK classrooms are closed for break.  Center and home-based Early Head Start will remain open.

04.11.19 - Take Back the Night: Join VIP for their annual march to speak out against violence. The event begins at 6:30PM in front of the SUNY Oneonta Milne Library, ending at Kim Muller Plaza for a candlelight vigil honoring victims of crime.

05.04.19 - BHF Community Baby Shower: The annual Baby Shower is scheduled from 9:00AM to Noon at FoxCare Center in Oneonta. This free information and activity fair offers pregnant moms, new parents, and caregivers the chance to gain information on pregnancy, birth, breastfeeding, fatherhood, babies, and beyond.

What's Happening...

VIP is hosting it's Rape Crisis Counselor Course beginning March 4, 2019. The 30-hour course prepares community members to assist victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.  For more information  or to register call 607.433.8031.

Immediate Openings: Head Start has immediate openings at their centers for income-eligible children. Centers are located in Cherry Valley, Cooperstown, Laurens, Morris, Oneonta, Richfield Springs, Schenevus, and Unadilla.  Children must be three years old to enroll.  For more information, call 607.433.8055 or visit our Eligibility  page.
