WIC Implements New Eligibility Guidelines

The New York State Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program has released new income guidelines effective July 1, 2026.  Income guidelines are based on total gross annual income per household. Previously, pregnant individuals enrolled in New York State's Essential Plan 200-250 were automatically eligible for WIC. With the discontinuation of the Essential Plan 200-250, automatic WIC eligibility under that coverage has ended. Pregnant individuals enrolled in Essential Plan Levels 1-4 remain automatically eligible for WIC.

WIC is a supplemental nutrition program offering assistance in purchasing healthy foods, nutritional guidance, basic health assessments, referrals to community services, and extensive support for breastfeeding mothers. 

 

Services are available to prenatal, post-partum and breastfeeding mothers, infants, and children up to age five.  Fathers, grandparents, foster parents, or other caregivers may apply on behalf of children under age five who are in their care. All services are free.

 

WIC is located at Opportunities for Otsego administrative office at 3 West Broadway in Oneonta. Main Clinic hours of operation: 

  • Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM. 
  • 4th Saturday of the month, 8:30AM - 12:30PM.
  • Extended hours on Wednesdays, 8:00AM - 6:00PM

Cooperstown Outreach Clinic at the United Methodist Church: 2nd Tuesday every month from 9:30AM - 1:30PM.
